Celebrate Big Tex's Birthday (And Win Tickets to the Fair!)

Do you live around Dallas?

If you do (or anywhere around Dallas, for that matter), you know what a big deal the State Fair of Texas is in these parts.  And if you don't live in Dallas, or Texas...you might want to keep reading just to learn about a Texas icon who kind of weirds me out but is slowly growing on me.

His name?  Big Tex.

See the tall guy?  In the yellow shirt? That's Big Tex.

When I first moved to Texas, everyone went on about how "fun" it was to see Big Tex at the Fair.  I thought he had weird arms and it kinda creeped me out when he talked (oh yes, he talks).  But as I've become a regular annual patron at the Fair, he's kind of growing on me.  I kind of like it when he talks (so does Jack, who will regularly say "Howwwwwwdy, Folks!" in true Big Tex fashion) and I've accepted his awkward arms.

I even make us take a family picture in front of Big Tex every year at the Fair.

This year, I am excited to help Big Tex ring in the Big 6-0.

That's right, folks.  Big Tex is turning 60!

My family and I will be at Big Tex's 60th Birthday Celebration, presented by Dairy Max and Oak Farms Dairy, on Sunday, September 30th.  The party gets started at 1PM (and lasts until 2PM) and will be at the State Fair Entrance.
