Remember That Time I Went on a Cruise?

Some of you may remember the time - just six months ago - when Charles, the kids and I went on a sick cruise.  And I don't mean "sick" in the, "Duuuuuude, that was sick!" kind of way.  I mean, we were actually really, really sick.  You can read about it here if you'd like...but the short version is, we were in Urgent Care the night before we boarded the ship and we set sail with ear infections, eye infections, colds and two grumpy kids.

You can imagine how that went.

So, you might be surprised to hear that I'm dusting off the passports and going on another cruise...next week...and without Charles.  And I'm happy about it.  Like, really, really, really happy!

Because this is different.  This is so, so different, in so many ways.

First and foremost, this is a Disney cruise.  Disney.  DISNEY!  I've never been on a Disney cruise before.  After our last cruising "adventure," we swore that the only way we'd attempt another vacation at sea would be if we could sail Disney.

And here I am, getting all packed and ready for just such a trip.

That brings me to the next reason this trip is different - and this is very exciting for me.  This is a "media cruise," which means I was invited to participate in exchange for sharing my opinions, experiences and tips over at Today's Mama (which is where I blog about fun things to do with kids in the Dallas area).

I would say the email I received from Rachael Herrscher of Today's Mama asking me if I wanted to go on this cruise (another blogger had to back out at the last minute) was probably the Best Email I've Ever Received, EVER!

I *almost* said no, though...I was afraid I couldn't handle the kids alone AND keep up with blogging/tweeting/facebooking/spamming you all with Instagram without help (Charles couldn't get the time off work).  I called my sister to see if she'd be able to help, and as luck would have it, she was able to get the time off and find a plane ticket to Texas.

And so, ladies (and gentlemen?), I am Super Duper Extra Excited to say that I will actually be going on this amazing cruise - and I'm going to tell you all about it.

I have a feeling this is going to be a much different experience from our last cruise!

We set sail on October 20th out of Galveston (that's right - Disney is now sailing out of Galveston, Texas, y'all - a big "YEEEEEHAW" to that!) on a 7-night cruise through the Western Caribbean.

Please join me as I share our adventures (oh yes, there will be adventures - starting with the 6-hour road trip I'm taking to Galveston with both kids - by myself).

You can read my posts (where I'll be sharing my experiences as well as logistical information, reviews, and tips) on Today's Mama.  I hope to keep the updates flowing throughout the trip (as Internet allows) on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram (my IG name is "snoringmannexttome" - follow and I'll follow back, I kinda love Instagram).

And with that, I'm off to pinch myself some more (because really, how did I get so lucky?).

Have a great time! We did a Disney cruise with my kids when they were 4 and 5 and it was awesome for the character opportunities! They spent lots of time with each child and the photos and memories were awesome! Tips--bring index cards or scrapbook paper for autographs, a power strip for the room (not enough accessible outlets), and plan on camping out at the kiddie pool EARLY or you'll never get a chair. (Hopefully they changed that people can leave towels to "hold" a lounge.) ENJOY!!!

Oooooh great idea about the autographs. I've been wondering how I'm going to document this trip (scrapbook/photobook/etc) but I think I'll find some Disney-themes scrapbook paper and cut it into manageable sizes and then I can either use the autographs to scrapbook with or tuck them into a photo book. I would never have even thought of that.

Also...great idea on the power strip. I have a lot of devices I'll need to charge/plug in.

Thanks!

Have fun!! My advice is to drink early and often! And of course make sure some of those fluids are water. Ca t wait to read all about it!
